Start from:
Inn by the Falls (Comfort Inn) 5525 Victoria Ave 905-374-6040 King $89.99 CAD NO PETS
The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the first trail (Olympic Torch Run Legacy Trail).
We’ll leave the hotel at 9am.
The first half of the day is spent mostly on the Niagara Parkway Recreational Trail which winds along the Niagara River all the way to Lake Ontario.
The scenery should be beautiful. Lots of places to stop and take pictures. I imagine that we’ll only average 6 to 8 mph with all the stops along the Niagara river.
There are three rest stops scheduled all with scenic views of Niagara River:
4.7 miles - Butterfly Conservatory
7.4 miles - Queenston Heights National Historic Site
11.2 miles - Riverview Cellars (Winery)
We’ll eat lunch about the 15 mile mark. It will probably be sometime between 11 and 12 noon.
Little Red Rooster Restaurant 271 Mary St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0, Canada
The rest of the day, 17 miles, are on roads. First 7 miles are interior, and the last 10 miles are along Lake Ontario.
Port Dalhousie, at mile 27, has several places we can stop for a break and refreshments. I recommend Lock Street Brewing Company or RIX Bistro.
Lock Street Brewing Company 271 Mary St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0, Canada
Then it is just another 5 road miles until we reach the Ramada Beacon Harbourside Hotel which should have fantastic views of the lake.
